Brookhaven PD unlocks 30 second response times with the deployment of 8 new Docks
Synopsis
The city of Brookhaven was incorporated in 2012, and has embraced technology and made innovation a priority since day one. Chief Brandon Gurley shares that since expanding their DFR program, camera network, and gunshot detection capabilities, Brookhaven has seen its clearance rates by arrest for shoplifting increase by over 70%. They have also seen their crime rates decrease in every index crime and in every group A crime.
Since transitioning to a Dock-based DFR deployment model, the agency can reliably launch a drone to any call for service at the push of a button, without fear of losing connectivity. Seamlessly integrated with multiple software programs including Axon Fusus, Evidence.com, and Live 911, data is streamlined to one view to reduce cognitive load and get the drone on scene even faster.
Captain Abrem Ayana says that the key to achieving a 30-second response time is dock placement and quantity, not how fast the drone flies. “Technology can’t hold us back. In true DFR, the drone is always ready for the emergency. Our response time is under 60 seconds. So while you’re still typing the call into the CAD in another jurisdiction, we’ve already got the drone on the scene of the call. That’s DFR.”
