This week we’re getting to know Lindsay Mukaddam aka @onegirlwandering on Instagram. Lindsey is a solo-traveling and content capturing extraordinaire based in Texas. We built Skydio 2 to empower everyone and anyone to capture stunning aerial footage without the need for an expert pilot, or even a pilot at all. We’re incredibly excited that Lindsey has chosen Skydio 2 to capture her solo-adventures and share with her audience.
Tell us who you are and how you got started as a Solo Travel Blogger?
A few years ago, I realized that I wasn’t challenging myself to leave my comfort zone. I thought about what would be the most uncomfortable thing I could do and for me, that was being alone in a foreign country. I booked my first solo trip and what I thought was going to be a one-time challenge to myself ended up just being the start of a journey to inspire and educate women about how solo travel can be a life changing experience. I want to be the resource that I didn’t have when I was just starting out. My goal is to break down the barriers that keep women from experiencing the world on their own as well as showing them attainable travel goals.
What made you decide to purchase a Skydio 2?
Capturing photos and video while I’m traveling solo is a crucial part of my job as a content creator. It has taken me years to perfect my solo photography skills. I wanted a drone that produced beautiful images but that I could also use to film myself while I am traveling. The Skydio is a dream come true because I don’t have to rely on anyone else to capture professional video. I was very impressed with not only the autonomous flying but also how easy it is to use right away.
How does the Skydio 2 contribute to your work?
I am able to offer a whole new perspective to not just my audience but also my clients. I have been excited to be able to better capture the epic scope of the places that I travel to from vantage points that were previously inaccessible to me from the ground.
What is your favorite video that you've shot with your Skydio 2, what do you love about it?
I recently took my Skydio on a trip out to Terlingua, TX right near Big Bend National Park. I was working with a property and I had the most fun being able to fly my Skydio around 400 open acres. Highlighting the natural beauty of this location from the air was spectacular.
What is your favorite Skydio Skill, Tip or Trick?
Get out there and fly it as much as you can. The more I have flown my Skydio the better and more comfortable I have gotten using it. Every time I take it out I’m impressed with how easy it is to use and how intuitive the controls are. I love trying out the different skills!
